Honors Classes

The purpose of our Honors Program is to encourage students to follow an academic program that will challenge their abilities, give them a feeling of accomplishment, and reward their success. We offer honors courses at various levels of the core curriculum and grades are weighted. We identify our honors courses through the school curriculum guide (available in the guidance office).

Some of our Honors courses are:

  • Honors English
  • Honors Algebra
  • Honors Geometry
  • Honors Biology
  • Honors Chemistry
  • Honors Earth Science
  • Honors Government
  • Honors World History

These courses carry the following weighted grade point value and are included in the cumulative grade point ranking of students for the graduating classes of 2005, 2006, and 2007. Beginning with the Class of 2008, we will not use weighted grade point values for Honors classes to determine grade point average:

A = 5
B = 4
C = 3
D = 1
F = 0
